Per-vertex fog is very common (especially on consoles). If you can substitute a depth for a specular value then you can do a pretty decent fog.

However, it implies that you can also do per-vertex color, which is what per-vertex fog and per-vertex specular highlights are based on, so I'd look for that first. I assume that with all the depth values already calculated (as Glide requires), you can figure out where in the table to grab the color, and just poke that into the vertex.

Sorry, don't have time to check the RRedline docs. In fact, seems like I never have time to do anything. :)
